The India-Russian joint project for the development and the construction of a modern multi transport aircraft which would replace the old soviet era workhorses of both the nation after years of negotiations and head storming is now in standstill. Recent reports emerged due to India's non agreement on a number of issues like the use of old engines instead of new ones and the use of full authority dgital engine control (FADEC) Russia decided to go ahead with the program and removing India as a joint partner. The HAL/UAC Il-214 was supposed to be a twin engine medium lift workhorse with the carrying load of 20 tonnes and carry 50-150 fully equipped paratroopers. The aircraft if it ever came into service would have replaced An-32s of the Indian Air Force.
