The Tuo Chian class corvette developed by the National Shipbuilding center based Kaohsuing. These corvettes have been developed under the Hsun Hai (Swift Sea) program. These ships give the ROC Navy the ability to take down capital ships and amphibious ships and even aircraft carriers while providing them with high end asymmetric capability at the fraction of a cost of a large frigate.
These corvettes have a wave piercing catamaran hull along with advanced stealth features making it's detection difficult also giving them an upper hand when operating close to the coastline. The corvettes posses high speed along with massive firepower and they can also support a 10 ton helicopter. The ships are deemed as multi mission and has a range of 2000 nautical miles (3,700 Km). If Beijing ventures out one fine day to reclaim their broken away province they're gonna carry out amphibious assaults for sure in beginning or the later stages of the invasion. To stop the invasion these high speed (can travel at speeds 70 Km/h at a sea state level 7) and manuverable corvettes can be armed with High speed subsonic or hypersonic nuclear capable anti-ship missile systems called the Hsiung Feng missiles which is said to be comparable to the Russian SS-N-22 Sunburn and looks very close the the Russian Kh-31. The 3rd generation of this missile has a reported range of 300 Km. These missiles have Self Forging Fragmentation(The effect of the explosive charge is to shape a metal plate into a rod or a slug to penetrate the armor) warhead which is triggered by a smart fuse when it senses that the missile is inside the hull of the ship. For Close in weapons system it has an American Phalanx CIWS. It's main gun is an Otobreda 76 MM cannon. It also has 2 Mark 32 triple torpedo launcher. So far the ROC Navy has two ships in service and the government has cleared the deck for the construction of 12 more ships at a cost of US$853.4 million dollars and are looking forward for bringing in more ships of this class into service. Missile boats have been primarily used in recent wars as inexpensive options to harrass or take down enemy targets from a distance without being detected first due to their small size and low radar cross section. These small boats are normally powered high powered engine enabling them to propel themselves at speeds of above 30 Knots. Modern day missile boats are armed with high powered radars and anti air defence systems. The Tuo Chian class corvettes are armed with modern electro optical systems and an advanced fire control radar. These ships if using the correct strategy by the upper brass of the taiwanese navy can wreck havoc during a confrontation. With their radar evading design these pocket rockets can surely affect the course of a war if not win it.
