Japan is negotiating for it's first major sale of defence system to New Zealand in a race to defeat it's European and American counterparts. The Kawasaki P-1 is in a head to head competition with the Boeing Posiedon P-8. New Zealand is looking forward to buy anti-submarine warfare aircraft to replace it's P-3 orion aircraft currently in service in order to upgrade it's defensive capability. Currenlty a Japanese team is in negotiations with their counterparts for a deal worth billions of dollars. This deal would include the production and transfer of parts along with technology. And, it also includes the maintenance of these systems. Japan is pushing both of the aircraft the P-1 Anti-Submarine warfare aircraft along with the C-2 transport aircraft which would help New Zealand to save a lot of money since both of these aircraft use similar parts. These aircraft have been designed and developed by kawasaki Heavy Industries. Since Japan lost out to French DCNS for the massive Austrailian submarine deal. Japan needs to put in a lot more than just trying ever since rules have been relaxed by the Abe Administraton for the sale of Defence equipment to friendly nations.
