Ukraine agrees to provide engine for Russian built frigates for India According to Sputnik news India and Ukraine has reached a conclusion to get naval gas turbine engine that would be fitted in it's advanced modified Krivak class frigate. Due to Russia and Ukraine having non-functional relations has affected the Russian military complex as most of the engines in the Russian fleet and under construction were or would be using engines supplied by Ukraine. The new naval engines from Russia are delayed which are being designed and developed by NPO Saturn. According to the report India is going to make sure that a number of the systems and their sub-systems are going to be sourced from India. These frigates are an advanced version of the Talwar class frigates which are already in service. INDIA TO ARM IT'S MI-17V5 HELICOPTERS WITH ADVANCED AVIONICS AND E/W SYSTEMS India is soon going to fit it's Mi-17V5 helicopter with electronic warfare system with Electronic warfare system and Missile approach warning system warning approach system and counter measure dispensing system. According to an request of information issued by Indian Ministry of Defence. These systems would allow the Mi-17 helicopter fleet to carry out Counter terrorism missions and and take on tactical situations head on and also increase the survivability of the helicopter. Some of the systems would be developed by home-grown Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and would be integrated in the helicopter. India would be procuring more of these helicopter soon from Russia. The Beretta ARX-160 has failed to qualify with only IWI (Israeli Weapons Industries) left in the competition which has also been accused of using unfair means in order to pass the trial stage. The ARX-160's night vision device is fitted with a small screw on the rifle which apparently fell off during the trial stage leading to it's disqualification. Russia to lay keel for the first submarine of the Varshavyanka class submarine in 2017
According to Sputnik News Russia would be laying the keel for the first Varshavyanka class submarine in the year 2017. These are a new class of Diesel-electric submarine featuring high automation and an extreme level of quietness. The Varshavyanka class submarines are developed from the mistakes and the lessons learned from the Kilo-class submarine which are known as the Black hole of oceans due to their quietness. They are based on the Kilo class submarines but feature some amount of structural modifications but complete change from the inside with a range of 400 Km these submarines have an endurance of 45 days.
